Contact Lens Consultation
Wearing contact lenses offers many people greater freedom and control over both their eyesight and their appearance. Starting the process of getting contact lenses begins with a contact lens consultation to find the right lens option for you from our wide range.
If you’ve never had contact lenses before, it may surprise you to learn that there are many different types, as well as a number of key factors to consider in ensuring your lenses fit your eyes and your vision properly, while helping you feel comfortable and secure for all-day wear.
Without the right prescription and type of contact lenses, risks include irritation and discomfort to the eyes, eye dryness, infections and more. This is where your trusted eye care professionals here at Kevin Paisley work with you and do all of the testing necessary to get you the very best result for the lens type that you select. We also believe it’s very important for you to be fully informed about how to take care of your lenses so you can get the most out of them, as well as how to continue to care for your eye health.
Contact Lens Consultation
To be prescribed contact lenses, you must first have an eye exam to assess your vision and understand what the right prescription is for you. Once you indicate that you would like to proceed with contact lenses as opposed to (or in addition to) frames, your optometrist will also need to do testing to ensure your lenses will be right for your eyes, given your unique considerations. This includes assessing the curvature of your cornea (the clear front surface of your eye) to support a good fit.
We’ll also discuss the activities that you intend to wear your contact lenses for, and how often you intend to wear them, to help you get the best matched contact lens type. Different types of contact lenses include:
Daily Disposable Lenses - These are only worn for one day and then thrown away, providing you with two key benefits (convenience - no cleaning and superior health maintenance - because of no cleaning).
Fortnightly/Monthly disposable lenses -A quality standard lens that requires replacing every two or four weeks, but at a lower price! This is a lens that suits most contact lens prescriptions for most eyes.
Bifocal or Multifocal Lenses - A quality bifocal or multifocal lens that requires replacing every two or four weeks, but at a lower price! This is a lens recommended for multifocal contact lens prescriptions.
Silicone Hydrogel Lenses - This new lens has revolutionised the contact lens market. You will be able to wear these lenses during the day and then go to sleep at night without having to take them out. Also experience greater oxygen transmission into the eye reducing red eye irritation. The ultimate convenience!
Coloured Lenses - Always wanted those bright blue eyes? We offer a variety of coloured lenses perfect for the person who feels like a change. Speak to one of our Optometrists or an optical dispenser about further information on contact lenses and their specifications, including quotes on our contact lens products and fitting services.
